Our Story

Located in the stunning Eastern Ghats of India, situated ~1000m above sea level, nestled in red soil and shaded by native forests the story of Madhu Agro Plantations begins. It is here where the vision of Govinda Reddy was realised, with the establishment of a lush fertile plantation on a once barren land. Now bristling with wildlife, the stunning vistas are home to the best coffee you can buy.

Through passion, commitment and the occasional natural disaster, the Madhu Agro Plantations’ once modest crop has now blossomed into one of the region’s major producers and not just a family identity, 30 years on is respected throughout India and beyond.

Today the farm is led by a passionate mother and daughter team Nirmala and Rajeswari, who pride themselves on nurturing a connection of community with its lands through strong female leadership. Madhu Agro Plantation remains one of the only women-run and predominantly women operated farms in the region, employing women from surrounding towns and villages.

Madhu Agro produces shade-grown coffee, promoting a sustainable practice that protects the environment while still enhancing the quality of the beans. The region’s climate creates the perfect conditions for shade-grown, flavour rich beans. Each berry is hand-picked with care, then processed manually, sun dried and graded for quality.

Here at Kellar Coffee, we offer both green beans and roasted coffee that reflect the same values and care that we put into producing our beans. Our products are crafted with care at every step and tells the story of family, of women’s leadership and of connection between the people and their land. We carry a deep respect for tradition and are excited to share a product that not only tastes delicious, but is also meaningful to its community and many others to come. 10% of our profits will go directly to supporting the local community.
